Adekunle Gold’s release of Fuji Xtra (deluxe edition) on May 8 has triggered a fiery exchange with Seyi Vibez in the Fuji space. A lyric on the track “Life of the Faaji” — widely interpreted as “They love my fuji, this no be Fuji Moto” — was seen by many as a direct shade at Seyi Vibez’s Fuji Moto project. Seyi Vibez responded aggressively on X, posting:
“Adekunle Gold you’re wack
And your swag is wack
Old fool !”
And your swag is wack
Old fool !”
He followed up with more taunts, referring to Adekunle Gold as “Adekunle panda”, “Egbon ofo”, and “Egbon ya”, while dropping other cryptic lines such as “Ko ni ye e” and “If dem born Adekunle panda Papa well, Make e put leg ! Allah”.
This latest development adds to a long tradition of public rivalries in Fuji music, most famously the decades-long feud between pioneers Alhaji Sikiru Ayinde Barrister and Ayinla Kollington.
In the contemporary space, the current exchange builds on conversations that started in late 2025 when both artists released Fuji-inspired projects within weeks of each other — Adekunle Gold with Fuji (October 2025) and Seyi Vibez with Fuji Moto.
While it remains unclear whether the tension is genuine or a promotional tactic tied to his upcoming album “Swaguu” and Adekunle Gold’s new deluxe release, the conversation has renewed attention for both projects and the broader Fuji revival in contemporary Nigerian music.
