To celebrate the anniversary of the passing of the legendary Afrobeat originator Fela Kuti, American Rapper and lyricist extraordinaire  Talib Kweli ( specifically Brooklyn ) has released his Fela Kuti Playlist which he compiled on Spotify just like Stephen Marley who also compiled one. If any Rapper outside Nigeria can tell you a lot about Fela Kuti, not only has he sampled him and is open about Felas influence in his music, he also named his first son “Amani Fela” as a tribute to Abami Eda. In a message to Fela.net, he said

“Fela Kuti shows us that the music of the oppressed must always be connected to the struggle. It is never made just for the sake of making something beautiful, it has purpose that goes far beyond entertainment.
