Nigerian music production duo, Legendury Beatz which is made up of two brothers, Uzezi Oniko & Okiemute “Mut4y” Oniko, have risen to the top echelon of the Nigerian music scene, working with lots of big names in the industry and international acts.
Mut4y in what will be termed — a look back at days of humble beginning, shared trivia from their early sojourn into the industry in a couple of tweets. A particular revelation that caught our fancy, was his response when he was questioned by a fan who taught him music production?
According to Mut4y, he and his brother, Uzezi horned their beat making skills, producing remakes of Don Jazzy’s instrumentals. He particularly got mentorship hanging out in Sarz’s studio”.
An inquisitive @only1detty tweeted, “Boss but na who teach u production??? @Mutaylegendury”. Mut4y replied, “Me & my bro Learnt a lot from listening to Don baba & reproducing his beats & I physically just used to sit down in sarz studio.”
The music production duo rose to mainstream consciousness producing early hits like Mocheddah’s Ko Ma Roll, Reminisce’s 2mussh. They have excelled higher producing arguable the biggest afrobeats’ export song “Ojuelegba” by Wizkid. Legendury Beatz received nomination credits for production contribution on Grammy 2020 nominated album, Oasis by Latino duo, J. Balvin and Bad Bunny.
