20year old American rapper, Pop Smoke was announced dead on 19th February 2020, in what was presumed a home invasion robbery at his Hollywood Hills residence. The fresh rapper who gained mainstream prominence few months ago with the single ‘Welcome To The Party’ is being mourned by the music community. Few Nigerian artistes have paid tribute to the deceased via their social media pages. However, Renowned Nigerian Artiste Manger, A&R, Songwriter, Abisagboola Oluseun John popularly known as Bankulli has a lot more details to share.
Apparently, the late Brooklyn rapper, Pop Smoke had an unreleased recorded track which features Afropop star, Davido. Bankulli revealed this in a tweet as quoted below,
“Late @POPSMOKE10 have a song recorded featuring @davido… he wanted to visit Africa .. he wanted to connect to the source the center of world energy.”
From the tweet we also deduce Pop Smoke also looked forward to visiting Africa to connect with his roots. Probably on a music tour or holiday trip.
This piece of information by Bankulli received a validation from Davido. He replied the post with a retweet expressing how much he cherished the studio session with Pop Smoke. Davido wrote,
“That studio session was crazy bankulli!”.
Investigations are still on going on the death of Pop Smoke. Further revelation gotten from a surveillance camera in Pop Smoke’s neighborhood reveal four assailants, and the Police are uncertain it was a robbery attack.
