Seasoned music producer, Samklef had alot to say speaking about the impact of certain Nigerian music icons in the industry. He praised veteran rapper/singer Eedris Abdulkareem and Wizkid for their impressions in the scene.

Samklef credited the due recognition and superstar status Nigerian artistes now enjoy to Eedris Abdulkareem as the spearhead. And also giving the accolade to Wizkid for pushing for equal respect internationally on international award shows.

He wrote, “Idris Abdul Kareem paid a price for Nigerian artist in Nigeria why WiZkid paid a price for Nigeria artiste internationally. B4 Na back stage dem dey give Africans award thanks to WiZkid . And Na 50k to 200k dem be dey pay artiste for naija that year. Thanks to Idris.”

Samklef alludes to the rift between Eedris and American rapper, 50Cent in 2005, during a concert organised by Nigerian Breweries. And also, Wizkid in 2015 calling out BET Awards organizers on twitter for handing the Best International African Act plaque to the winner back stage, way early before the main event. Wizkid boycotted the award pre-show, interviews and nominees party.

The statement has been met with lots of criticism. Samklef is being bashed by the public, accused of patronizing Wizkid, trying to get back in his good books and win his friendship back since their supposed fall out. And few others are of the opinion Davido should be credited for the respect internationally Nigerians receive internationally.
