Veteran rapper, Illbliss took to his twitter page to pay tribute to Late Andre Harrell, Uptown Records founder and former President Motown Records who passed away on May 8th, 2020.
The stocky emcee recounted how much the late music mogul inspired him a lot, even as far replicating his corporate businessman look on his Oga Boss album cover.
In quote, “Rest in peace Andre Harrell.. you inspired me so much and made me wear a suit for the cover of my Second album “OGA BOSS” (jay Z inspired me as well) from putting Diddy on to Mary J Blije’s Uptown Records debut, working with GUY, FatherMC, heavyD and the Boys, Al B Sure..etc. RIP.”
He further went on in a subsequent tweet to reveal the inspiration behind setting up his artiste management outfit, The Goretti Company (known for its success with Phyno, Chidinma Ekile’s careers) was also ignited by Andre Harrell alongside LA Reid, Chris Lighty.
“Andre Harrell was visionary. Vice Chairman at Revolt. He and LA Reid and Chris Lighty inspired me to start The Goretti Company. They made talent management and artiste development look so appealing. Black excellence at its peak. When pple ask me who inspires illBliss.. na them”, he wrote.
