As the world is undergoing restrictions to keep people safe, Ghanaian artist Supa Gaeta drops new single “Text Me” in solidarity of lovers during isolation. This track comes off his long-awaited EP Supa Szn.
Bringing out the theme of love, Supa Gaeta amplifies the reason why he should be on the list of artists to watch out from Ghana. Text me is a rhythmic Afrobeats single which explores love and self-isolation during the COVID-19 era. On this bouncy Afropop single, Supa Gaeta uses catchy lyricism to assure his significant other that tough times shouldn’t cripple their love “..Baby just text me if you want to talk you can text me want to come through just text me…”
Oxlade joins in with sweeping harmonies to smoothly let his lover know that he would love to invest in her and become close companions “…Me wanna give you all the best things, Anything you want Biko text me, Cause I want make we be bestie, I want to learn your lesson sister blessing o…”
The song is accompanied by animated visuals courtesy of VX Animation starring Supa Gaeta and Oxlade as the main characters alongside a bewitching love interest who (single-handedly plays with their heartstrings. This depicts some of the struggles lovers face as a result of distance
Produced by Supa Gaeta, “Text me” is yet another banger swelling up his catalog as a multi-faceted artist.
Born Nana Aggrey, Supa Gaeta is a Ghanian Afro-fusion musician, producer and sound engineer who loves blending urban, high life, hip hop and trap sounds. A young prolific genius who got into beat making early in his life because he loved to experiment on sounds that he had heard in other songs, movies and any form of melody he came across, started learning FL studio and with time developed his sound.
Supa Gaeta began to make music in high school as a hobby where his craft and style was heavily influenced by the late 90s and early 2000s Hip Hop, RnB and Hiplife by listening to the likes of Aaliyah, Bow Wow, B2K, Static Major of Playa, Pretty Ricky, Ofori Amponsah, Kofi Nti and others. These influences are one of the reasons Supa Gaeta has a soft delivery in his music.
His skits and freestyles on his social media when he took on music as a career in 2018 received nods from industry giants (including Mr Eazi, Kizz Daniel, GuiltyBeatz, Magnom Beats) which caught the eye of Afrobeat lovers.
He is focused on speaking on his experiences, the experiences of the people around him and things he has seen in his music. A recent example was “Never Again” where he talks about his past relationship where he was taken for granted and would make sure not to get into such a situation. “It is important to me to tell my story how I know how to. All my experiences; the good, the bad, the ugly.”
Supa Gaeta has worked with Oxlade, Blaqbonez, Wavy The Creator and others.
