Born Faridah Talatu, Ridah, as she is popularly known, is a 20-year-old Afro-R&B and Afrofusion singer, songwriter, actor, dancer and digital artist. She is a student of the prestigious University of Lagos where she is studying mass communication.
Ridah started making music in 2018 but only for fun. Music has always been her escape from reality but she never felt confident enough to move a step further as an artist. The COVID pandemic allowed her to discover and fully embrace her talent and ever since she’s been developing and honing her skills to become a top vocalist and a complete music artist.
Ridah cites Beyoncé, Alina Baraz and Tems as her major influences and it’s no surprise you experience a soul-snatching aura when you listen to her music. She prides herself as a hopeless romantic and has a deep connection with her spirituality. This is what makes her music pleasant to the ears and even more endearing to the soul as it takes you to a place where peace, love and divinity is overemphasized. Her music is centred majorly around her personal life experiences.
Ridah is all about pro-femme energy and she strongly believes that female artists deserve much more attention and opportunity in the industry without having to go through sexualization and hardship. She aims to be a strong advocator for her fellow female counterparts and stand with her gender for life.
She recently released her debut single “Stronger” which has received raving reviews and comments from listeners and critics. She had previously released a couple of covers and was featured on another song. She’s currently working on a video for her single while she records more singles.
