News :- Hausa Music Legend Dan Maraya Jos Passes Away At 69
Dan Maraya Jos born Adamu Maraya, a well known praise singer who plays the kontigi has died aged 69. The news of the “Wak’ar Karen Mota” crooner’s death after a long battle with an illness was announced by Ladan Salihu earlier today. His musical career spans over 5 decades in which he has composed numerous songs praising Nigerian soldiers during the Civil war, his personal heroes and the Northern elite. His most popular song “Wak’ar Karen Mota” is a praise song for conductors who help bus drivers in Nigeria load passengers and collect transport fare. He was awarded the National Honors of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON), Officer of the Order of the Niger OON and United Nations Peace Medal during his life time.
Former Vice president Atiku Abubakar and Kannywood actor Ali Nuhu are among well wishers who have mourned and expressed their condolences on social networks.
