Interview:- Jahborne talks old Beef with Blackface,getting stabbed and new album

Nigerian Sounds:- Good Day Jahborne what’s happening ?

Jahborne:- Nothing Much.

N.S:- What have you been up to these days ? You have an Album “Monkey Business” out now, how is that going ?

Jahborne:- Its moving fast,sales dey confirm and we thank the lord.

N.S:- You are more or less a modern Nigerian Music Veteran ,How was it like when you started in Contrast to how the industry is right now

Jahborne:- It’s very different now,we worked hard so that the new artistes will find life easier.

N.S:- First time I heard of Jahborne was when I heard “We dey Face Wahala for Naija” ,(2002) ,I was in Secondary School then,How does it feel when you come across people who don’t know your musical history?

Jahborne:- I don’t blame them ..LOL

N.S:- You accused Blackface formerly of the Plantashun Boyz of “Copying that Song” (Wahala for naija ) on his song ( Hard Life ) , How did that end up ?What’s your relationship like with Blackface nowadays.

Jahborne:- He is Blackface and I am Jahborne…No relationship.

N.S:- How many albums have you dropped so Far ? Name them, and let us know what it has been like putting the albums together?

Jahborne:- I have 4 albums [to my credit] Wahala [2004], second round [2007] M.O.N.E.Y [2009] and Monkey business [2011]…I’m a Businessman and so music has just been a part-time hustle for me.

N.S:- During the Fuel Subsidy Protest,You were one of those artistes that spoke up,and you even shot a Video for it,how do you feel when other artistes chicken out of situations like this

Jahborne:- (In Nicki Minajs Voice) Thats why they’re mad.Most of the upcoming superstars don’t want to miss the opportunity to perform for politicians so they let their fans die in poverty.Im from the Ghetto and I feel the pains of the street.Call it controversy,No wahala..But bear in mind that in a prophet.

N.S:- You are based in Isolo Lagos , Tell us how it is out there

Jahborne:- The street is Military.Everybody hustles hard to make ends meet.

N.S:- Last two weeks, I saw on twitter,that you were stabbed 12 times in Isolo, How true is that ? Tell your fans about it

Jahborne:- Yeah.so sad,I got stabbed for the wrong reasons .It is all done now and the police know what to do.

N.S:- You are one of the most outspoken Nigerian artistes on twitter,and on your records you attack the government a Lot, do you sleep with both eyes closed in Nigeria,Knowing how the country is ?

Jahborne:- At least I got stabbed..nobody is safe in Naija..I just do what I got to do.

N.S:- You’re also a Producer that owns his own record label and Studio (Music Factory) what is it like running a Label,which artistes have you signed or hope to sign in the future.

Jahborne:- I Wont call names,[But] I have helped almost everyone in the industry in a way.But for now,I have 2 artistes I am working on.Dr Jazz and Ujayz,we are still cooking stuff.

N.S:- When M.I 2 Dropped,You were Vocal about “How Pop The Album Was” , Shed more light on that ,and your thoughts on Hip-Hop in Nigeria .

Jahborne:- I Used to be a Hip-Hop artiste until the hunger for money and fame made me record “Carry Go” since then,Its been my Piqanto style all the way..About MI2,whatever I said back then wasnt my Business.You can knack kpangolo and rap to it and call it Hip-Hop.

N.S:- Are there any artistes you’re feeling out there right now ? Or you want to work with ?

Jahborne:- 2face ,Banky W,Seun Kuti and Dede Mabiaku.

N.S:- When you released your song “Maga” you took shots at M.I , Omawunmi, Rooftop MC’s , Cobhams and More, what warranted that ? What is your relationship like with these artistes

Jahborne:- I don’t know them,I only see them on TV.

N.S:- You are known to shoot groundbreaking Videos with Solid Pictures, what
is it like working with Wudi Awa,who directs most of the new ones

Jahborne:- He has done every video except 2,we are family,so we are good together.

N.S:- You used to be linked with “Intrudah” , Paul Runz , and Rayan T , they are all absent from the game now,can you let some of us know what’s up with them ( If you know)

Jahborne:- LOL..Them [still] dey hustle …

N.S:- You’re very interactive on twitter,unlike many Nigerian Musicians,what role do you Think websites and Social Media would play in the Nigerian Music industry in years to come

Jahborne:- They[social networks] help promote entertainment as a whole.

N.S:- You knew The Late Da Grin before he died, can you share any memorable
moment you shared with him ?

Jahborne:- He was a good kid..It was so sad we lost him.

N.S:- As an elder statesman in The Nigerian Music industry,what words do you have for upcoming acts in the Game Today ?
